Endurance behavior of conductive yarns

چکیده
Various companies are industrializing ‘photonic’ textiles for medical and architectural applications. Here we report reliability testing of photonic textiles based on woven textiles with integrated copper-based conductive yarns used to drive attached LEDs. These textiles were subjected to cyclic mechanical stress tests and the cycle life was analyzed in terms of fatigue. Results show that failure is due to wire fractures at the transition from the rigid component to the compliant textile. The results are in good agreement with Cu-fatigue data from literature. This shows that it is possible to estimate the lifetime of electronic textiles under use conditions by the mechanical fatigue of the conducting yarn material properties. 2013 Elsevier Ltd. Investigation of Heating Behaviour of E-textile Structures
By textile science incorporating with electronic industry, developed textile products start to take part in different areas such as industry, military, space, medical etc. for health, protection, defense, communication and automation. Electronic textiles (e-textiles) are fabrics that contain electronics and interconnections with them. In this study, two types of base yarns (cotton and acrylic) ...
متن کاملStretchable and Highly Conductive Carbon Nanotube-Graphene Hybrid Yarns for Wearable Systems
Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) have emerged as potential candidates for replacement of conventional metals due to their significant mechanical, electrical, thermal properties and non-oxidizing abilities [1, 2]. The density of CNT composites is about five times lower than copper and around half that of aluminium. Moreover, their thermal conductivity is about ten times that of copper. With the above men...
متن کاملDesign and Fabrication of Smart Diapers with Antibacterial Yarn
In this study, intelligent eco-diapers are made by combining antibacterial yarns coated with quaternary ammonium salts with conductive yarns to improve caretaking for urinary incontinence. The combination of conductive yarns and sensors can detect the moisture content in eco-diapers, and an alarm is sent when moisture is significant. A wireless module is used to send detected signals to a smart...
متن کاملConducting nylon, cotton and wool yarns by continuous vapor polymerization of pyrrole
Conductive textile yarns were prepared by a continuous vapor polymerization method; the application of polypyrrole by the continuous vapor polymerisation method used is designed for the easy adaptation into industrial procedures. The resultant conductive yarns were examined by longitudinal and cross-sectional views, clearly showing the varying level of penetration of the polymer into the yarns ...
متن کاملA Study of Electrical Conductivity of Hybrid Yarns Containing Metal Fibers
The total electric resistance R is theoretically linearly increasing function of the conductive wire length L because the electric conductivity K or electric resistivity r is independent on L. It was found out that dependence of electric resistance R on L is highly nonlinear for yarns containing the conductive metal fibers. The main aim of this paper is creation of the simple mechanistic model ...
